After unboxing your new home appliance, take note of the MAC address written on it and on your gift cards. Open your web browser and visit https://pvy.swiss/register. Enter the MAC address printed on the label of your PVY@Home Personal Cloud appliance.
You will be guided to create your SysAdmin user and all other family or office members. You can also do this by using the QR code label on the bottom of the appliance with your smartphone. However, we recommend using a notebook or tablet for the registration process.
Let’s assume we designed the system smart enough to keep your data safe and make the setup easy for your users to accomplish by themselves. We recommend you follow the order below for app installs on your mobile and desktop devices — not just for fun, but because it truly makes sense.
When you log in as an admin to your PVYcentral Management Console, you can create users and copy the given password into a text-edit document or notepad on your local machine. Alternatively, you can use the “send by SMS” button for each user. The only thing you need to ensure is that you enter the correct mobile phone number for the right receiver in the correct E.164 format: [+][country code][subscriber number including area code], or +CC AC Number, which can look like this:
Make sure you don’t copy any extra spaces, such as those from the Apple Address Book or Contacts. Since 2019, Apple’s app has had a bug that adds an extra space to the end of phone numbers when using the copy function.
Regardless of whether your mail setup and data migration are complete, have your users log in to PVYgroupware first. They should set their default timezones and be encouraged to change their passwords.
Download and install PVYmessenger either from your favorite app store or from our App Website. Ensure that your users store their encryption key in a secure place as the first step to keep their data safe. You might also enjoy testing the messenger, as it’s a really cool tool. Each user will receive a contact request from the PVYcentral bot to enable direct encrypted messaging. This is only required for an easy setup and can be deleted later if desired.
Now that you can receive encrypted messages and files/attachments, it’s time to enhance your security further. Implement a Crypto Style VPN to ensure unbreakable security and enable synchronization with your PVY Personal Private Cloud solutions.
Log in to PVYcentral, go to the Application Menu, select “PVYvpn,” and press the “Configure” button. The Guided Assistance will display a list of your users, which you can simply select with a checkmark. Enter the usernames your team uses on PVYmessenger for each user and choose the mobile and desktop operating systems they will use.
After setting everything up, click the “Save” button at the bottom right. Once saved, the green “Roll-out” button will become active, allowing you to proceed with the setup for your users.
They will receive an encrypted message on their PVYmessenger for each device OS they use (macOS, Android, iOS, Windows, Linux) with the following content:
Welcome to PVYvpn
After the user has completed the setup, PVYvpn—a session-less UDP VPN—will receive its “Node” list, which includes all apps deployed in your PVY Personal Private Cloud environment. From now on, all traffic and communication will go through this peer-to-peer VPN, whether you are on a LAN or on the go.
Download and install PVYfiles either from your favorite App Store, or from our App Website and make sure your login works with your PVY-ID.
Open the PVYfiles app, and you will see default libraries we supply for each setup such as:
If you already have existing file libraries for your company or ones created for your family, they will also be visible in the PVYfiles app. It is important to know that no one—neither SysAdmins nor PVY technical personnel—can access the files located in My Library. Even if someone steals your storage disk, they will not be able to obtain any files from it.
Open PVYfiles and tap the “Settings” icon in the lower right corner. You’ll find several settings options, but we will cover only three of them here. Adjust the checkboxes accordingly:
Open the camera on your mobile phone, take a photo, and then close the camera app. Check your computer to see if the photo you just took appears in the “My Library / Camera Roll” folder. If it does, you’re all set.
Move or copy a PDF or Apple Pages file into the “My Library / Documents” folder. Wait 15 seconds, then check your mobile phone to see if you can access the file.
If your subscription plan package includes PVYphotos, which comes with a web interface and desktop apps from Mylio, please open PVYphotos in a web browser, log in with your PVY-ID, and check if the photo appears in the “Unsorted” smart album. If it does, you can now use PVYphotos for RAW images just like Darktable, with AI support if you choose. Everything you sort, create, and move into albums or folders will sync with your PVYfiles library in “My Library / Photos,” whether it’s a movie or a picture.
To learn how you can share or even sync Files and Photos with PVY-ID Users (Peer-to-Peer) and non PVY-ID Users, visit the Quickstart Guide for PVYfiles and PVYphotos.
Ask your users to set up their PVYcal account to streamline appointments with external contacts for chat, web calls, or webinars. This will help them become more productive.
Regardless of which application you access next, you will always have an encrypted peer-to-peer VPN connection. Simply log in with your PVY-ID. Note: The first user to log in will become the admin for each app after the SysAdmin. You can change this later if another user logs in first, by elevating the later user to the Admin role. The most challenging part is now complete. The rest is learning by doing, with support available through weekly webinars, numerous videos on our Video Platform, and of course, here on our PVYwiki.

Complete manuals for each application are available in the User Guide and Admin Guide sections. The Admin Guide section is only visible to SysAdmins within your organization or family. (The user who initiates the setup of PVY@Cloud, PVY@Home, or PVY@Office is automatically flagged as an “Admin User.”) You can access these guides in the left sidebar navigation tree.
